우리는 매일 물 한 모금, 진한 커피 한잔, 상큼한 과일 주스, 때로는 몸을 위한 무언가를 마시기 위해 하루에도 몇 번씩 다양한 종류의 컵을 사용합니다. 찬장에 있는 컵들을 바라보며, 담길 내용물에 따라 어떤 컵을 쓸 것인가에 대한 고민을 적어도 3초 정도는 하게 되는 것 같습니다. 물론 좋아하는 컵이 있다면 그것만 계속 사용하게 되는 경우도 생기곤 하죠. 각자의 취향이 반영되는 순간입니다. 누군가의 집에 놀러 가게 되면 집주인이 내어주는 음료가 담긴 컵들을 통해서 그들의 취향을 엿볼 수 있는 것도 재미라고 생각합니다. 어떤 사람은 컵이 아무렴 어때 라는 사람이 있는가 하면, 어떤 사람은 다양한 컵으로 자신의 취향을 은근히 드러내 보이기도 합니다. 참 재미있는 순간입니다. 그리고 우리들의 주변에는 혹시라도 맘에 드는 컵이 건네진다면 남녀를 불문하고 반드시 바닥 면을 수색하는 사람들도 꽤 있습니다. 이렇게 MMMG의 주변은 시시콜콜 취향에 대한 나눔이 항상 넘쳐납니다.

Every day we use various kinds of cups in order to replenish for our bodies with a sip of water, a cup of dark coffee or a glass of fresh fruit juice. Looking at mugs in the cupboard, we seem to spend about 3 seconds to consider which cup shall be taken according to the contents. Of course if you have a favorite cup, it tends to be used continuously. This is probably the moment when the taste of individual is reflected. When we are invited to friend’s place, it is interesting to see a glimpse of the owner’s tastes through these daily objects. One might not care much about such things, yet others are fond of subtly showing their interests gently through their cup collections. It is such an impressive moment. If those types of people find a cup that they like, they will often turn it upside down regardless of gender. MMMG is always surrounded with such people who enjoy sharing their discerning preference.

‘A CUP FOR MY EVERYDAY’

2014년 여름, MMMG에서 유리로 만든 컵의 다섯 번째 버전을 소개하려고 합니다. 특별히 이번에는 콜라보레이션을 통해 준비해 보았습니다. 그동안의 인연으로 MMMG와 친구가 된 아티스트 및 디자이너들과 함께 이번 다섯 번째 버전을 장식하게 되어 매우 기쁘게 생각합니다. 7명의 디자이너들은 ‘내가 매일 사용하고 싶은 컵’이라는 주제를 가지고 다양한 성격의 작업들을 건네주었습니다. 마침내 매일 쓰고 싶은 컵 13개가 탄생했습니다. 아마도 컵을 집어 들 때마다 각각의 디자이너들과 상의했던 흔적을 회상하며 무언가를 마시는 동안 그들을 떠올리게 될 것입니다. 단순한 디자인을 넘어서 이러한 특별한 사연을 통해 만들어진 물건은 아무래도 좀 더 소중한 마음으로 다루고 싶어집니다.

MMMG introduces the fifth version of glass cups for the summer 2014. This time we are very happy for that we have planned a special collaboration project with 7 friends and artists who we met and built a strong relationships with over the past years. Under the theme of ‘A CUP FOR MY EVERYDAY’, each of the designers has produces works of diverse natures. Finally, thirteen cups were created Whenever cups are picked up it will reminds us of conversations with individual designers, and they will be remembered as we drink. Beyond the simple design qualities, objects which are created by such stories are meant to be dealt with a more precious heart.

여러분도 이전에 수집해놓은 컵들을 한 번쯤 더 바라보며 내가 그것을 갖게 된 그때를 추억하거나 기억해 보세요. 누군가를 위해 선물한다면 그것은 또 다른 기억으로의 초대입니다. 디자이너들뿐만 아니라 여러분의 일상에서도 매일 함께 하고 싶은 컵으로 추천합니다.

We hope that your ‘A CUP FOR MY EVERYDAY’ will encourage you to recall your own stories attached yo each existing cups in your collection. If one of them is presented to somebody, that is perhaps an invitation to a new story. We recommend for your daily lives well as those of designers.

블루 베리 / 블루 베어 by 마야 스텐 -스웨덴에서는 식사 후에 뒤 뜰에 있는 블루베리를 반컵 쯤 따다 먹는 문화가 있다고 합니다. 그 블루베리를 그 곳에 살고 있는 곰도 매우 좋아하기 때문에 블루 베어가 되었습니다.
